I talk a lot about social media on this blog. And, the reason I do so should be pretty obvious. However, the one platform I feel that often goes neglected is Instagram. The truth is, I’m not much for the whole Instagram experience. I write a blog because I enjoy writing -pictures not so much. However, when it comes to building an engaged audience online, there’s no questioning the value of this platform. With that in mind, here are 5 ways to grow your Instagram following fast.
1. Indentify Your Niche
We’re all about branding here, so it would be a mistake to start without making this step clear. Specifying your niche is essential when starting a new Instagram account. Whether it’s to grow your business on Instagram or just build an audience around that niche, this is an essential first step.
2. Like Related Posts
With the assumption that you are on the platform to market your products or services, it’s important to realize that competition is a relative term. One thing you need to learn is that social media is all about the interactions. With that in mind, don’t be afraid to go ahead and like the posts of your competitors on Instagram. If it’s relevant to what you’re doing, go ahead and give it the credit it deserves. Of course, if you want the best results, look for hashtags you can use to identify potential customers and like their posts.
3. Promote Your Instagram
If you’re looking to grow your Instagram, odds are you have some other platforms you utilize. Since Facebook, Twitter, and other networks have been around longer than Instagram, your pages in those sites may already have a good deal of followers. Instead of just starting from scratch, why not leverage those followers? Simply plug in some links to your Instagram from these channels. Sometimes, just asking is all you need to get a firm footing in your new network.
4. Use Geotags
Even if you don’t often travel, make sure to take advantage of geotagging when you can. For starters, using it locally can help those around you find your content. And, when you do travel, these tags can help expose your brand to new, interesting people. By itself, it might not seem like much, but trust me when I say geotagging can be a great way to pick up new followers.
5. Interact with Your Community
No, not your physical community -though that is a good idea also! Instead, what I’m referring to here is your Instagram community. Don’t be afraid to interact and hang out within your community. Beyond just liking other photos, go ahead and participate in conversations. Post comments, reply to comments, and be an all-around friendly person. Often time, you’ll find building relationships on Instagram can directly result in a new customer, or at the very least a new email subscriber.
Grow Your Instagram Following
Oh, and in case you didn’t realize, you’ll want to do all 5 of these steps if you want to really get ahead. When you do, you’ll have a real leg up on the competition and should start noticing some growth in your Instagram audience. Next step, make sure you’re ready to convert those followers into customers.
